Doctor's Best Red Yeast Rice 600mg, 120 vegicaps

Best Red Yeast Rice contains rice that has been naturally fermented with red yeast (Monascus purpureus) according to traditional methods. Produced in the U.S., this product is similar to red yeast rice that has been used in culinary applications in Asia since at least 800 A.D. It is considered beneficial for adult men and women when taken as part of a lifestyle program that includes regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Red yeast rice contains significant quantites of the HMG-CoA reductaseinhibitor lovastatin, a naturally-occurring statin. It is sold as an over the counter dietary supplementfor controlling cholesterol(See ref.: Medicine Net). There is strong scientific evidence for its effect in lowering blood levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein/LDL ("bad cholesterol"), and triglyceride levels and is therefore regulated as a drug by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA).

Suggested Use: Take 1 capsule twice daily, with or without food. Do not take more than 4 capsules in a 24-hour period.

Do not use this products if: you are pregnant or nursing, have liver disease, are allergic to soy or rice, or have had major surgery or organ transplant surgery within the last six weeks. Discontinue use immediately if muscle pain and tenderness or flu-like symptoms occur. If you are taking prescription medications, consult a physician before taking this product.
